Affordable Housing For Ch’íyáqtel Members
Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) is committed to providing economic growth with safe and affordable housing. We do this through responsible and respectful property management and new housing developments. In turn, we encourage Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) members and tenants to demonstrate pride in ownership of their homes by collectively caring for residential spaces and sustaining positive relationships with the community, land, and culture while maintaining the integrity of Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) properties.
Steqóye Place
7 townhome rental units owned and operated by Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten).
Units #1 through #4 have a double garage, while #5-#7 have a single-car garage. This is a smoke-free premise.
To be added to the waitlist for a rental unit, simply fill out the Rental Application. Please be advised that Ch’íyáqtel members have priority, and all applicants will be reviewed by the Ch’íyáqtel Housing Committee for consideration.
Due to the varying rental-rates and parameters set forth by BC Housing, tenants of Lá:lém Way are required to provide annual income verification to Ch’íyáqtel’s Housing staff for rental calculation. All rental rates are subject to change on an annual basis.

Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) First Nation’s Public Works and Housing Department is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of Ch’íyáqtel’s (Tzeachten) Administrative Building, Cemetery, Community Centre, Longhouse, Rental Housing Sports Field Complex and Social Health Building.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) must apply for funding on the member's behalf to cover CP home improvements through external funding providers such as Indigenous Services Canada, CMHC, and BC Housing.
For any HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or appliance repairs, please contact the housing department at housing@tzeachten.ca, or fill out the Service Request Form. Disclosure: Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) will pay for the repairs if the damage is not due to negligence.
THIG is a reimbursement program offered through our Community Assistance Benefits. This is for CP holders whose primary residence is the home needing improvements. Members must pay for the repair, maintenance, service, or improvement upfront, attach their receipts or invoices to a CAB form, and submit them to cab@tzeachten.ca or drop them off at the hall.
Contact the housing department by email at housing@tzeachten.ca to find out if there is any vacancy. Alternatively, if a rental unit becomes available, check the Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) First Nation Facebook page for a call for applicants.
The Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten)Housing Committee reviews all applicants. Depending on the size of the rental unit, the number of applied occupants, their family income, and the applicant's need, the Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) Housing Committee will "score" the applicants on our Priority Matrix (See Section 30.8 in the Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) Housing Policy). Successful applicants will be notified one month before the move-in date. The Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) Tenancy Agreement will be reviewed and signed by the tenants and Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten) Housing before the start of the tenancy.
