Development & Application Process

Permits and procedures for building on the Ch’íyáqtel reserve.

Building on Ch’íyáqtel lands follows the same process as most municipalities. Every building development requires a permit and a pre-site inspection. To apply for a permit, you must supply conceptual development plans, legal and technical information, development costs, utility connection fees, building permit fees and other charges.

Process

Stage 1: Application

Developer submits Development Permit Application and associated fees
Application is reviewed with Lands Department & Lands Advisory Committeee
Staff report to Council
Council provide  Approval in Principle

Stage 2: Approval

Developer submits development plans (engineered certified drawing)
Plans processed (staff review and refer to applicable external agencies)
Staff report to Council
Council provide Stage 2 Approval

Stage 3: Pre-construction

Developer is issued a Development Permit and  enters into a Servicing Agreement (with City of Chilliwack)
Development Cost Charges and any other applicable fees are paid
Developer provides Bonding / Letter of Credit

Stage 4: Construction

Developer's engineer monitors construction and provides inspection report for review to Ch’íyáqtel and designated reviewing agencies

Stage 5: Project Completion

Ch’íyáqtel confirms project Substantial Completion and releases bonding
Developer's engineer submits As Built plans and certification of total completion
Ch’íyáqtel confirms project Total Completion and issues Notice of Completions
